Brian Chin

In addition to performing with Seattle Trumpet Consort, Brian has played baroque trumpet with The Golden Gate Men's chorus in San Francisco and the St. Mary Chamber Orchestra in Littleton, Colorado.

On modern trumpet, Brian is principal trumpet of the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, as well as trumpet instructor at Seattle Pacific University. He also performs frequently with many Northwest orchestras, including the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera and the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Hailed by the press as "Bold" and "Brazen," Mr. Chin has appeared as soloist with the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, The Bangkok Sinfonietta, and Orchestra Seattle where he premiered Robert Kechley's Trumpet Concerto.

Brian has studied baroque trumpet with John Thiessen. His orchestral music training in the New York and New Jersey areas was under the tutelage of Peter Bond and James Pandolfi of the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, as well as James Thompson of the Montreal and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras. He holds a Masters Degree in Orchestral Trumpet from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he graduated with Highest Honors in addition to earning a double Bachelors Degree in Performance and in Education. Brian recently earned his DMA degree at the University of Washington, where he studied with internationally renown trumpet soloist Allen Vizzutti.
